Mumbai: Public sector unit National Aluminium Co (Nalco) Wednesday said its net profit in the December quarter fell 33.38% at Rs219.46 crore over the corresponding period a year ago.
Public-sector aluminium firm had a net profit of Rs329.44 crore in the December quarter last fiscal, Nalco said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The total income also declined to Rs1,149.22 crore in the third quarter from Rs1,247.26 crore a year ago.
While, for the nine months ended 31 December 2008, Nalco registered a net profit of Rs1,189.25 crore, a 2% decline compared to Rs1215.83 crore the same period.
Meanwhile, NALCO also announced the payment of 35% interim dividend, on the paid-up equity capital of Rs644.31 crore, for the financial year 2008-09.
Shares of Nalco fell over 3% and were trading at Rs185.70 in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
