NTPC to be official partner for Commonwealth Games 2010
New Delhi: Country’s largest power utility NTPC will be the official partner for the Commonwealth Games, scheduled next year.
“NTPC shall be the official power partner for the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010, Delhi," the company said in a statement.
“The sponsorship by the company would be to the tune of Rs50 crore," power secretary H S Brahma said.
NTPC is also adding about 1,500 MW capacity for the games.
The company would commission a 980 MW unit for the games at its Dadri plant that at present generates 840 MW through coal and 817 MW through gas. With this, the total generation capacity of the unit would reach 2,637 MW.
NTPC will also commission a 500 MW coal-based unit for the games at its Jhajjar plant.
