Honda hikes car prices by up to Rs5,000

New Delhi: With the central sales tax holiday enjoyed by it in Uttar Pradesh coming to an end, Honda Siel Car India has hiked the price across different models by Up to ₹ 5,000.
Post the price hike, the company’s popular mid-sized sedan “City" will be costlier by ₹ ,000 while the other model “Civic" will be dearer by ₹ 3,000.
The company’s premium luxury car “Accord" will see the highest hike of Rs5,000, a company official said.
The company had been given a 4% central sales tax exemption since its inception linked to its investment at its plant Greater Noida.
The company has absorbed most of the increase in the prices of vehicles, following the expiry of the tax holiday. Prices across all models from 2 April since the sales tax holiday is drawing to a close.
The company, however, had not decided on the quantum of the increase and had said it would take a decision on whether the whole 3% increase would be passed on to the consumers or not.
“We have not decided whether we will pass on the increase fully to the customers or whether we’ll absorb a part of it," HSCI senior general manager Jnaneswar Sen said.
