Bajaj Auto posts highest ever May sales at 2,99,442 units
New Delhi: Bajaj Auto today reported 61.56% jump in total sales last month at 2,99,442 units, which is the company’s highest sales ever in May.
It had sold 1,85,341 units in May last year, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement.
The company added that the total sales for May 2009 also include the scooter segment. BAL has since then moved out of the segment with the phasing out of its scooter model Kristal last fiscal.
Its motorcycle sales in May this year also jumped by 63.28% to 2,69,488 units from 1,65,049 units in the year-ago period.
BAL attributed the growth in bike sales to its Pulsar and Discover range of motorcycles, which sold 75,974 units and 1,07,076 units, respectively, last month.
The company’s exports in May surged by 63.53% at 95,964 units as against 58,682 units in the corresponding month of 2009, it said.
It also reported a rise of 52.48% in three- wheeler sales during May at 29,954 units compared to 19,644 units during the same month last year, BAL said.
