Twelve IAF pilots inducted in Air India
New Delhi: In order to meet the shortage of pilots, Air India is now looking to the Indian Air Force (IAF) to bridge the gap.
A total of 12 IAF pilots have been inducted in Air India, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel told Rajya Sabha in a written reply Tuesday.
“The induction is on the basis of their flying experience in Air Force and subsequently passing the examination conducted by Directorate General of Civil Aviation for civil licence followed by Air India’s training for P-2 endorsement on type of their aircraft," Patel said.
He said the civil aviation industry in the country is facing a shortage of approximately 1,000 type-rated pilots.
Patel added no proposal has been received from private airlines for induction of IAF pilots.
