Chennai: Looking to test waters in the alternative fuel segment, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) will introduce a CNG version of its most successful compact car Santro in Mumbai and Delhi within two months.
“The CNG kit will be imported from Italy. We will launch the CNG Santro in Mumbai and Delhi in two months,” HMIL Managing Director H S Lheem said here on 3 April after launching Getz Prime.
He said launching the CNG version of Santro in Chennai was not viable as the city had very few gas stations compared to the other two cities.
Lheem said HMIL would be launching the diesel version of the Getz Prime in the second half of this year.
HMIL was targeting domestic sales of 30,000 units of the new Getz Prime. The Getz Prime has been launched in the 1.1 litre and 1.3 litre category.
The price in Chennai (ex-showroom) ranges from Rs 3.89 lakh to Rs 5.25 lakh, he said.
