Mumbai: Tata Power Company has announced a net profit after tax of Rs869.90 crore for the year ended 31 March, 2008, up 24.8% over the profit figure in 2007.
The Tata group company had a net profit after tax of Rs696.80 crore for the corresponding period a year ago, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Its total income for the fiscal year 2007-08 stood at Rs6,381.75 crore as against Rs5,059.31 crore in fiscal year 2006-07.
Further, the company’s Board of Directors have recommended a dividend of Rs10.50 per share (105%) to the shareholders for the year ended March 31, 2008.
The group recorded a consolidated net profit after statutory appropriations of Rs996.48 crore for the year ended 31 March, 2008, a jump of 35.2% as compared to the same period last year, which stood at Rs736.78 crore in the year-ago period.
The group registered a total income of Rs11,369.51 crore in 2008 as against Rs6,742.71 crore in 2007.
Shares of Tata Power closed at Rs1,192.60, down 4.82% per cent on the BSE.
