L&T gets Rs980 cr Tata Steel order
Mumbai: Indian engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro Ltd. said on 17 July it had received an order worth Rs980 crore from Tata Steel Ltd. for installation of a blast furnace at its Kalinganagar plant in Orissa.
“The new order follows the very recent contract for the sinter plant and the steel melt shop," Tata Steel President Construction K V Rangaswami said.
The company in consortium with Germany-based Outotec on 16 July bagged an engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) contract of Rs836 crore for installing a sinter plant of 5.75 million tonne per annum (MTPA) capacity at the Orissa plant.
Under the new order, L&T would supply and install the blast furnace of 3.2 MTPA capacity, which would have a furnace volume of 4,300 Cu m as part of the first phase of the greenfield Kalinganagar project, it informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The project is scheduled for completion in 40 months.
L&T, along with its international consortium partners Pauf Wurth Italia and India, is executing another EPC project for construction of blast furnaces of 3,800 Cu m for expansion of Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur plant.
Shares of L&T were trading at Rs2,406.45, down 0.28% on the BSE in afternoon trade.
