Ratan Tata heads Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Tea, Tata Chemicals, The Indian Hotels Company and Tata Teleservices. Since 1991, he has been chairman of Tata Sons, the promoter company of the Tata group and the chairman of major Tata companies, including Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Tea, Tata Chemicals, Indian Hotels and Tata Teleservices. The group’s revenues are said to have grown nearly 13-fold since he took over the reins of the group.

NA Soonawala is vice chairman of Tata Sons and chairman of Tata Investment Corporation. He is also a director of Tata Industries, Tata Motors, Indian Hotels and Trent. He joined Tata Sons in 1968 as executive assistant to the finance director and has been the finance director since 1982.

Farrokh Kavarana is the director of Tata Sons and Tata Industries and the chairman of Tata AIG Life Insurance and Tata AIG General Insurance, Tata Asset Management (The Tata Mutual Fund), Tata Projects, and Trent. He is also a director of several other Tata Group companies such as Tata Tea and Titan Industries, as well as Tata and non-Tata companies overseas.

Mr Kavarana began his stint with the Tata group in1975 as director of Tata Industries and managing director of Tata International AG / Tata AG in Switzerland, and soon thereafter of Tata Limited, London, with the responsibility for overseeing the Group’s investments and activities overseas. In 1994 he was appointed executive director of Tata Motors, and in 2000 he became executive chairman of Tata Infotech until its merger with TCS in 2005.

Jamshed J Irani is a director with Tata Sons and a director on the boards of several companies including Tata Motors, Tata Teleservices, BOC (India), Electrosteel Castings, Repro India and HDFC. He is chairman of Tata Refractories, TRF and Kansai Nerolac Paints.

R Gopalakrishnan joined Tata Sons in September 1998 as executive director after rendering 31 years of service at Hindustan Unilever, earlier Hindustan Lever. Apart from the above portfolio at Tata Sons, Gopalakrishnan is also the chairman of Tata AutoComp Systems, Rallis India and Advinus Therapeutics, vice chairman of Tata Chemicals, and a director of companies like Tata Motors and Tata Power.He is even serving as an independent director on the boards of the Indian subsidiaries of Akzo Nobel and BP Castrol.

Ishaat Hussain has been finance director of Tata Sons since July 2000. He joined the board of Tata Sons as executive director in July 1999. He is also a director of other Tata companies, including Tata Industries, Tata Steel and Voltas. He is also the chairman of Voltas and Tata Sky.

Prior to joining Tata Sons, Mr Hussain was senior vice president and executive director of finance at Tata Steel for almost 10 years. He joined the board of the Indian Tube Company (a Tata Steel associate company) in 1981 and moved to Tata Steel in 1983, after Indian Tube was merged with Tata Steel.

RK Krishna Kumar is a director on the Tata Sons board, chairman of Tata Coffee, chairman of Infiniti Retail (Croma), chairman of Tata Realty and Infrastructure, chairman of Casa Décor, chairman of Tata Housing and Development Company and vice chairman of Tata Tea and of Indian Hotels. Mr. Krishna Kumar joined Tata-Finlay managing the group’s tea and coffee businesses with a consumer focus. He was appointed the managing director of Tata Tea in 1991.

Arunkumar Ramanlal Gandhi is a director of Tata Sons and a member of the Group Corporate Centre.

Cyrus Pallonji Mistry is a director of Tata Sons and Tata Elxsi (India).

Noel Tata is the chairman of Trent Ltd, the retail chain business that was started by Simone Tata. He is slated to take charge of the overseas business of the over $70 billion conglomerate as managing director of Tata International.

Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry has a 18.5% stake in Tata Sons, making him the single largest shareholder in India’s largest private conglomerate Tata Group. He is also the Chairman of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group through which he owns Shapoorji Pallonji Construction Limited, Forbes & Company Ltd. and Eureka Forbes Limited.

Kishore Chaukar is the managing director of Tata Industries (TIL) he is responsible for providing strategic direction and support to the Tata companies promoted by Tata Industries. He is also involved with TIL for the introduction of new ventures of the Tata group, especially in high technology and future economic potential sectors.
