New Delhi: Electronics major, Haier Appliances has decided to focus more on the refrigerator segment to increase its India footprint and is also looking at exporting refrigerators to West Asia and Africa is looking to double the refrigerator making capacity of its Pune-based facility, besides entering into segments such as water-heaters.
“Our Pune-based manufacturing facility has a capacity to produce 3,50,000 units per annum, which we are going to double to 7,00,000 units by the end of next year,” Haier Appliances India chief operating officer and whole time director Pranay Dhabhai said.
The company has decided to focus more on the refrigerator segment to increase its foot print in India and is also looking at exporting refrigerators to West Asia and Africa.
“We are leveraging the refrigerator segment more as the company has already invested heavily in setting up the manufacturing plant and the segment contributes around 40% of revenues in India,” Dhabhai said, declining to give details regarding the projected investment.
Haier on Thursday also announced the launch of its new range of water-heaters under the brand name ‘Spa Water Heater´.
The company is targeting around 3-5% share of the Rs650 crore Indian water-heater market in the period of next one year.
Haier has reported sales of Rs325 crore in the last and current year and is targeting a revenue of more than Rs400 crore.
