Mumbai: State-run Bharat Electronics on Friday said its net profit for the third quarter ended 31 December, 2008, grew 8.67% to Rs122.76 crore over the corresponding period a year ago.
India’s leading defence electronics firm had a net profit of Rs112.96 crore in the third quarter of last financial year, Bharat Electronic Ltd (BEL) said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
However, the total income dropped to Rs681 crore in the latest quarter from Rs691.57 crore a year ago.
While, for the nine-month period ended 31 December, 2008, the Bangalore-headquartered firm posted a net profit of Rs249.02 crore, a nearly 5% decline over the corresponding period a year ago.
It had a net profit of Rs262.11 crore in the same period last fiscal.
Further, in a separate filing to the BSE, the company on Friday said its board has declared an interim dividend of Rs6 per share for the year 2008-09.
Bharat Electronics settled at Rs787, up 1.34% on the BSE.
