Madurai: The Canara bank would install 15 ATM machines near railway ticketing kiosks of 15 stations and a MOU had been signed between the bank and the Southern Railway.
A bank release said on 12 May that the Bank deputy general manager S V Krishnamurthy and the senior divisional commercial manager L Veera Narayanan signed the MoU in the presence of divisional railway manager (DRM) Hemant Kumar.
The bank’s first ATM would be operated at the Madurai Junction in a month.Besides banking transactions such as withdrawal and deposit of cash, deposit of cheques and transfer of funds could also be done.Customers could also get open tickets and platform tickets using their debit-card at the kiosks,the DGM said.
The DRM said 15 ATMS would be opened in 28 railway stations in the division.Four banks including Canara bank, State Bank of India,Indian bank and Bank of Baroda had signed MoU with the Railways ministry to have ATMs at railway stations.The Kiosks would be set by the Indian Railway and Catering and Tourism Corporation.
Recalling the recent budget announcement regarding zero-queue for tickets, the DRM said the kiosks that would come along with ATMs would serve that purpose.
