New Delhi: Country’s largest electricity generator National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Thursday announced a provisional net profit of Rs7,129.30 crore during 2007-08, a growth of 3.85% over the previous fiscal.
The company had a net profit of Rs6,864.70 crore in the fiscal year 2006-07.
NTPC Chairman and Managing Director T. Sankaralingam said the provisional net sale for FY 2007-08 rose to Rs37,004.6 crore from Rs 32,595.20 crore in the year-ago period.
The market capitalisation of NTPC is about Rs16.21 crore, making it the third largest company in India as on 31 March, 2008, Sankaralingam added.
Shares of the company were trading at Rs186.50, down 0.64% in afternoon trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
