New Delhi: Illustrative books publisher Parragon will introduce popular titles for kids from the Walt Disney range in India to tap the growing pictorial content market as it looks at launching country-specific content to nearly double its sales here.
“India has a huge market for illustrative books and this segment is growing significantly here. Our current offering, coupled with Disney titles would help us in doubling our sales in the country to two lakh books a month,” Parragon Publishing India Managing Director Vineet Sharma told PTI.
He said their is a huge demand for Disney titles in India, which are presently provided by three other publishers here.
“To start with, we would introduce 50 fresh Disney titles in India and at our price points we should be able to capture a major share in the market for such books,” Sharma said.
Parragon Publishing India, set up last year as a joint venture between UK-based Parragon Publishing and Vineet Sharma, presently sells 300 illustrative titles in the country.
Disney titles include Jungle Book, Black Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer among others.
The company is also looking at introducing illustrative books on subjects of relevance to India.
“We would soon publish books with India-specific content. These books would not only be of great interest to India but would also be equally interesting to global buyers,” Parragon Publishing Managing Director Paul Taylor said.
