Unitech drops on report of Chandra’s questioning by CBI
A newspaper report says Unitech’s managing director Sanjay Chandra was questioned by CBI in connection with 2G scam
Mumbai: Unitech Ltd’s stock plunged on a newspaper report that the real estate company’s managing director Sanjay Chandra was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the case related to alleged improprieties in the allocation of 2G spectrum and licences in 2008.
The Times of India reported on Tuesday that the agency examined the senior public prosecutor in the 2G case A.K. Singh and Chandra after registering a preliminary enquiry four days ago over the recording of a conversation that allegedly took place between the two.
Shares in Unitech, which is due to announce its quarterly earnings on Wednesday, fell 17.86% to ₹ 28.75 on Tuesday on BSE.
The 30-share benchmark Sensex closed up 0.52% at 19,561.04 points.
