Mumbai:Wipro Ltd. is in talks for a software and technological support contract for an upcoming Boeing facility in India, an official said on 13August.
Boeing is investing $100 million (Rs400 crore) in a maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in India’s western state of Maharashtra.
“We are talking to them. But it’s too early to comment, whether this will be a joint venture or an alliance or in some other form,” Partha Sarathi Guha Patra, a vice-president at Wipro Technologies, the IT services arm of Wipro Ltd., told Reuters.
Wipro would also be providing software tools and technological support for an array of aircraft checks and maintenance programmes at the Boeing facility.
“Generally 22-25% of any MRO investment goes to IT services, but it is really difficult to say now. It will take another 8-12 months,” Patra said.
Wipro gets most of its revenue from the IT services arm. It also has interests in computer hardware, consumer care and lightings.
