Kolkata/ Mumbai: Technology, engineering and construction group Larsen & Toubro on Monday said that it expects its electrical and automation business to double to Rs 8,000 crore by 2015.
“Our current business is Rs 3,800 crore and we expect to grow at 20% per annum and by 2015 the turnover will be Rs 8000 crore,” head of its E&A S C Bhargava said .
Bhargava did not rule out overseas opportunities. He also said in future the E&A business could be under a seprate business entity.
L&T has bagged a Rs 110.31 crore order from the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (Wbsedcl) to supply energy meters.
The Group’s Electrical and Automation (E&A) business has been awarded the order, the company said in a statement issued in Mumbai.
The Metering & Protection Systems (MPS) business unit of E&A will supply 12.6 lakh single-phase energy meters to Wbsedcl in a time frame of 12 months between June 2011 and May 2012, the release said.

We have a wide range of products and solutions in the electricity distribution segment that compete with the best in the world,” Bhargava, said.
MPS has a manufacturing facility in Mysore and has an installed capacity of over 4 million single-phase meters and three-phase meters.
