Bangalore:
United Breweries Ltd (UBL), the beer-making business of Vijay Mallya’s UB group, reported a 24.1% increase in net profit to Rs.33.5 crore for the December quarter, helped by lower costs. Total income fell 12.7% to Rs.838.7 crore for the quarter ended December 31.
Earnings of the previous financial year included numbers related to certain UB businesses that were merged into UBL, maker of Kingfisher beer.
UBL shares rose 0.66% to Rs.781.20 on Wednesday on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The benchmark index slipped marginally to 19,639.72 points.
