Forty suitors, including several from India, are in the running to acquire the assets of Globeleq that are being put on sale.
They include Reliance Energy Ltd, NTPC Ltd, Essar Power, Tata Power and Lanco Infratech—partners to Globeleq in the Sasan project.
“We are evaluating our options and collecting more information to decide whether to place a bid for the assets. We will be focusing on their Asian operations as those are in sync with our existing capabilities," said a senior NTPC executive.
Similarly, Mukesh Tyagi, Essar Power head (business development group) , said, “We are open to any good opportunity that is aligned with our activities. Though we are yet to take a decision on Globeleq’s asset sales, we will be interested in placing a bid."
“We are also looking for Globeleq’s assets in Asia, Africa and Egypt and are not interested in their Latin American operations," said G. Venkatesh Babu, MD, Lanco Group.
