Sheroes raises funds from Quintillion media, others

Sheroes also raised an undisclosed amount from Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, and Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal

Bengaluru: Applied Life Pvt Ltd, which owns Sheroes, a jobs and career community for women, has raised an undisclosed amount from Quintillion media, start-up accelerator 500 Startups and a group of angel investors such as Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Google executive Rajan Anandan, Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal and Freshdesk founder Girish Mathrubhootham.

Mekin Maheshwari, chief people officer at Flipkart, Indus Khaitan, founder of Bitzer Mobile which was acquired by Oracle, and Krishna Mehra, co-founder of Capillary Technologies, also participated in the round.

Ritu Kapur, who co-founded Quintillion Media. along with Raghav Bahl, founder and former managing director of Network18, will join the company’s board.

Sheroes, which claims to have more than 6,000 companies and half a million women professionals on the platform, helps women explore part-time and work-from-home jobs, corporate roles as well as entrepreneurial opportunities.

“It was important to bring in the right kind of investors, as we build a high impact, high growth organisation. Our investors truly believe in the purpose and vision of Sheroes and we are delighted to have them support us," said Sairee Chahal, founder of Sheroes.

The company plans to deploy the funds in building the community and improving the product.

“The team has created a unique opportunity for Indian women, empowering them with access to careers, while allowing them to work from where they are the most productive. Sheroes is a rare enterprise opening up corporates and other employers to a very active work force," said Quintillion’s Kapur.
