Hyundai’s domestic sales jump over 19% in August
Exports decline sharply, falling 40% to 14,361 units from 24,008 over a year ago
Mumbai: Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), India’s second largest car manufacturer, sold 33,750 units in August, up 19.2% from 28,311 units sold last August, the company said in a statement on Monday.
Exports, however, declined sharply, down 40% to 14,361 units from 24,008 units over a year ago.
Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president, sales and marketing at the firm, credited the overall performance to good response for new models including Elite i20, Xcent and Grand.
“We maintain a cautious optimism for a good festive season on the strength of new products, increase in demand for petrol cars and improving customer sentiments," he said.
