National Fertilizers, a mini ratna company, on 19 April posted a more than five-fold rise in net profit at Rs49.95 crore for the quarter ended 31 March 2007 as compared to Rs8.76 crore in the same period a year ago.
Total income of the leading nitrogenous fertiliser maker however fell to Rs816.21 crore for the quarter, as against Rs816.46 crore for the year-ago quarter, NFL informed the BSE.
For the year ended 31 March, National Fertilizers posted a net profit of Rs136.85 crore against Rs116.40 crore in 2006.
Annual total income also rose to Rs3,830.26 crore versus Rs3,627.19 crore in the 12 month period ended 31 March 2006.
Shares of the company closed 1.05% up at Rs28.95 on the BSE.
