Hong Kong: Standard Chartered Plc has appointed V. Shankar as chief executive officer (CEO) for the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and Europe.

Shankar will be based in Dubai and replace Gareth Bullock, who is retiring, according to a emailed statement on Monday. The appointment will take effect from 1 May.
