Appointments | Saraswat takes over as DRDO chief
Bangalore: Missile scientist Vijay Kumar Saraswat will take over as the new head of India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from 1 September, the defence research agency said in a statement on Thursday.
Saraswat, who succeeds M. Natarajan as secretary, DRDO, and as scientific adviser to the defence minister, A. K. Antony, is currently chief of research and development at DRDO, heading India’s missile programme.
He joined DRDO in 1972 and spearheaded the Prithvi, Dhanush and Agni missile programmes.
