Sun Pharma wins Gemzar patent case

Mumbai: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd has won the patent case against Eli Lilly and Co. Ltd for the generic version of the latter’s anti-cancer drug Gemzar, said a spokesperson for the Indian company on Thursday.

The US district court for the eastern district of Michigan delivered a partial summary judgement on Monday invalidating Eli Lilly’s patent for method-of-use for Gemzar. The method-to-use patent for Gemzar was to expire 2013.
