Mumbai: Bharati Shipyard Thursday said it plans to construct a green field shipyard at Dabhol in Maharashtra.
The yard would have the capacity to built vessels upto 100,000 Dead Weight Tonnes (DWT) and would be fully operational in the next two years, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchanges.
“We are very proud to announce the Green Field Shipyard at Dabhol. The yard will be spread over an area of more than 250 acres. We have already acquired more than 180 acres of land. We are in the process of acquiring balance land,” Managing Director of the company P.C. Kapoor said.
With the increased ship-building capacity, the new shipyard would also help boost allied industries, which are also on a higher growth phase and create job opportunities for more than 3000 people, the filing added.
In late afternoon trade, shares of the company were trading at Rs 813.25, up 0.44 % on the BSE.
