New Delhi: Intel India, the local unit of the world’s biggest computer chip maker, has announced giving a grant of $60,000 (about Rs24 lakh) to a Delhi-based NGO for developing skills in children and women.

The fund from Intel Foundation would be utilized over two years through not-for-profit organization Digital Empowerment Foundation, an Intel release said.

“The fund will be dedicated to providing opportunities for women in remote, rural villages and community information resource centres (CIRCs) will also provide them training and support," Intel Foundation president Brenda Musili said.

The CIRCs would be equipped to become sources of content and information to help women find solutions to their problems, the release said.

“The multiple CIRCs spread across the country target to positively impact over 100 villages," DEF founder director Osama Manzar said.
