Mumbai: Home video major Moser Baer has acquired the copy right and exclusive licences for 7,000 films in all major Indian languages, placing it far ahead of its rivals.
The company has also lined up 450 distributors in the country and stocks will soon be available at around 100,000 outlets, including stationery shops, telecom shops and regular audio and video outlets pan-India, Moser Baer’s managing director Deepak Puri said on Thursday.
Saying that the Indian entertainment industry was growing at 20% per annum, he added, “With our new technology, manufacturing capability and distribution network, we are well-poised to ride this boom.” On competition from Reliance, Puri said no company could offer VCDs and DVDs at Moser Baer’s prices: VCDs for Rs28 and DVDs for Rs34.
