New Delhi: Anti-cancer drug maker Dabur Pharma Ltd on Thursday said it posted a loss in the second quarter (Q2) ended 30 September as it had to make a one-time payment to its employees against their stock options.

The payment, worth Rs27.19 crore, was required as German health care group Fresenius SE acquired a 90.89% stake in the firm, a company statement said.

Dabur Pharma posted a loss of Rs37.02 crore in the quarter under review, against a profit of Rs8.54 crore in the year-ago period. This includes loss of Rs7.4o crore incurred due to the depreciation of the rupee against the dollar, the company said. Net sales for the period fell 6.5% to Rs58.24 crore due to reorganization of business territories, it said.

Shares of the firm closed down 0.37% at Rs40.25 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday, after touching their year-low of Rs33 earlier in the day, ahead of the results announcement.

Dena Bank Q2 net up 11.6% at 103 crore

Mumbai: Public sector lender Dena Bank on Thursday said its net profit for the quarter ended 30 September grew 11.59% at Rs102.83 crore over the corresponding period a year ago.

The lender’s total income rose 19.51% to Rs913.64 crore in the second quarter (Q2) from Rs764.48 crore in the same period last fiscal.

Infotech Enterprises Jul-Sep net up 38%

Mumbai:Engineering software services firm Infotech Enterprises Ltd reported a 38% rise in net profit for the September quarter on strong performance from its subsidiaries.

July-September net profit rose to Rs34.9 crore, while revenue rose 37.5% to Rs221.4 crore.

ACC Q3 profit declines marginally to Rs283 cr

Mumbai: ACC Ltd, India’s biggest cement maker, reported third quarter (Q3) profit fell 3% from a year earlier.

Net income dropped to Rs283 crore in the three months ended 30 September from Rs292 crore a year earlier, the company said in a release to the National Stock Exchange on Thursday.

Exide Q2 net up 25%, sales jump 35%

Kolkata: Exide Industries Ltd, the Kolkata-based manufacturer of lead acid storage batteries and power storage solutions provider, has registered a 25% increase in net profit for the second quarter of the current fiscal. Its net profit went up to Rs78 crore from Rs62 crore for the same period last fiscal. Net sales increased 35% to Rs900 crore. Shares of Exide rose 5.01% to end at Rs53.45 on Thursday on the Bombay Stock Exchange, whose benchmark Sensex index fell 3.9%.

3i Infotech raises FY09 earnings estimates

Mumbai: Software services firm 3i Infotech Ltd has revised its outlook for 2008-09 and sees earnings per share between Rs14 and Rs14.50, the company said late on Wednesday.

The company has also raised its revenue guidance for the year between Rs2,200 crore and Rs2,300 crore, accounting for business from its US acquisition Regulus, and its order visibility, it said in its statement.

Zee News profit rises 104% in Sep quarter

Mumbai: Television broadcaster Zee News Ltd, a unit of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, said on Thursday it posted a net profit of Rs11.47 crore for the quarter ended 30 September, a rise of 104% against Rs5.60 crore posted in the corresponding period a year ago.

The operating revenue of the company increased to Rs127.70 crore for the quarter from Rs79.80 crore in the year-ago period.

GAIL net climbs 78% to Rs1,020 cr in Jul-Sep

Mumbai: Beating analyst estimates, GAIL (India) Ltd on Thursday announced an increase of 78% in its profit for the July-September quarter.

The company’s net income increased to Rs1,020 crore from Rs573 crore a year earlier, the New Delhi-based natural-gas distributor said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday. The revenue of the company rose 35% to Rs6,130 crore.

Edelweiss Capital Sep quarter net falls 29%

Mumbai: Brokerage firm Edelweiss Capital on Thursday said its net profit after minority interest for the July-September quarter declined 29.2% to Rs43.60 crore against Rs56.33 crore posted in the corresponding period a year ago. The total income rose 15.65% to Rs249.59 crore in the quarter under review, it said in a filing to BSE.

Voltas Q2 net profit rises 16% at Rs62 cr

New Delhi: Consumer durables company Voltas Ltd said on Thursday its net profit during the second quarter (Q2) has grown by 16.06% to Rs62.19 crore from the corresponding period last year. The company also reported a net income of Rs931.05 crore during the quarter, a growth of 28.93% over the same period a year ago, it said in a statement.

Punj Lloyd posts 61% rise in Q2 net profit

New Delhi: Engineering and construction firm Punj Lloyd Ltd reported on Thursday a consolidated net profit of Rs144.12 crore for the quarter ended 30 September, an increase of about 61% compared with the same period last fiscal year, the company said in a statement.

Total income rose by about 53% to Rs2,954 crore in the Q2, compared with Rs1,924.7 crore in the same period in the last fiscal year.

Spice Communications loss widens to Rs81 cr

Mumbai: Mobile services provider Spice Communications Ltd on Thursday said it posted a net loss of Rs81 crore for the quarter ended 30 September, against a net loss of Rs5.33 crore in the year-ago period.

Net sales rose to Rs308.04 crore from Rs252.10 crore.

Shares of the company lost 3.31% to close at Rs36.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday.

HCL Info Q1 profit falls on forex fluctuations

New Delhi: HCL Infosystems Ltd on Thursday reported a 8.4% fall in quarterly profits due to foreign exchange fluctuations, but said the current economic slowdown will not have much impact on it. HCL, which makes desktops, laptops and provides office automation services, posted consolidated net profit of Rs66 crore, down from Rs72 crore an year ago.

Net sales for the quarter were flat at Rs3,086 crore, a company statement showed.
