New Delhi: The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is turning towards young drivers in a bid to create awareness for safe driving by organising a driving contest among the youngsters.
The company has been tapping young drivers from across the country by organising driving contest, the national finals for which will be held next month at its Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in the National Capital.
“Road fatalities in our country is one of the biggest issues regarding safety. Over one lakh people in India die every year in road accidents. One reason is that people do not know how to drive, so to create awareness, we have decided to hold this contest,” Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) executive officer (marketing and sales) Mayank Pareek told PTI.
As the young generation is gradually getting affluent and buying their own cars, so the company organised the contest, through which it would spread the message of safe driving, among the young passenger-car drivers, he added.
The final winner of the contest, in which over 654 people took part, would be declared with the company’s latest hatchback A-Star and would be the ambassador of safe driving, besides being promoted at numerous platforms.
