New Delhi: Diversified business group Videocon is planning to set up a 1,000 MW hydro power project in Uttranchal with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore.
It plans to rope in a US partner for the proposed project.
“We are planning to set up a 1,000 MW hydro power project in Uttranchal with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore. We are talking to some US companies for the project,” group’s chairman and managing director Venugopal Dhoot told reporters on the sidelines of a power seminar here today.
However, he declined to comment on when the project would be commissioned.
The company already has thermal power projects coming up in Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Gujarat of 1,600 MW capacity each. Videocon had earlier said it would invest Rs 20,000 crore in these three plants.
In Gujarat, it would set up two coal-based power plants of 800 MW each. The contractors for the project, to be implemented on a single turnkey basis, would be selected through international competitive bidding, Dhoot said.
