Bharti Airtel announces corporate restructuring
Mumbai: Leading cellular operator Bharti Airtel on 5 August announced a strategic restructuring at its corporate level, distributing responsibilities for its various businesses.
Rajan Mittal, younger brother of group chairman Sunil Mittal, has been elevated as the vice-chairman and will look after the Group’s retail, cash and carry, and realty businesses.
Akhil Gupta would become deputy group CEO and MD and would look after tower infrastructure unit—Bharti Infratel, and also lead the financial services and software businesses.
Gupta would also continue to be on the board of Bharti Airtel as a non-executive director.
Further, Manoj Kohli has been designated as the CEO and Joint Managing Director.
The corporate rejig has been made effective from August 1, the telecom major said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Further, the board has approved the appointment of Quah Kung Yang as an additional director and accepted the resignation tendered by Francis Heng, nominee of Pastel Ltd (a Singtel group Company).
