Mahindra’s May auto sales rise 10%
Mahindra's passenger vehicle sales during the month also increased 8% to 19,635 units
Mumbai: Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Ltd, India’s largest utility vehicle maker, said its domestic sales including trucks and light commercial vehicles rose 10% to 36,613 units from a year ago. Company’s passenger vehicle sales during the month also increased 8% to 19,635 units over the last year on strength of the newly launched sports utility vehicle models.
Mahindra‘s tractor sales during the month rose 21% to 22,148 units from a year ago. Rajesh Jejurikar, president and chief executive for farm equipment and two wheeler division at Mahindra said the positive monsoon forecast, advance estimate of Rabi crop production and the increase in minimum support price is likely to boost farm income and positively impact the demand going forward.
Shares of M&M gained 0.77% to ₹ 1,334.95 apiece on BSE, while the exchange’s benchmark Sensex rose 0.17% to 26,713.93 points.
