SAP appoints Ravi Chauhan as India MD
Chauhan will be responsible for driving the growth strategy and operations
Hyderabad: Enterprise application software maker SAP AG on Monday appointed Ravi Chauhan as managing director of its India unit. The appointment will be effective immediately.
Based out of Bangalore, Chauhan will be responsible for driving the growth strategy and operations of SAP India Pvt. Ltd, the third largest among SAP’s subsidiaries globally, and one of its fastest growing companies. He will report to Adaire Fox-Martin, president of SAP Asia Pacific Japan, who was appointed in February.
“As a technology hub and with its vast network of enterprises, entrepreneurs and users, India is undoubtedly a key market for SAP in the region and globally," said Fox-Martin in a statement. “We are confident that Ravi brings the right set of skills and experience to lead SAP India to continued success, as we increasingly address the needs of India’s rising millennial workforce."
Chauhan, who’s been in the information technology industry for three decades, last served as managing director of India and South Asia for network equipment manufacturer Juniper Networks Inc.
SAP began its India operations in 1996 and now has 6,600 employees. It has 5,400 customers, including over 4,200 small and medium enterprises, according to a spokesperson.
