Sumantran to step down from Hinduja Automotive board
Sumantran will continue as an adviser to the parent Hinduja Group while he pursues his interests in academia, research and consulting
Mumbai: Hinduja Automotive Ltd, the holding company of bus and truck maker Ashok Leyland Ltd, on Thursday said executive vice-chairman V. Sumantran will step down from its board from 31 March.
Sumantran will also step down as non-executive vice-chairman on the board of Ashok Leyland.
He will continue as an adviser to the parent Hinduja Group while he pursues his interests in academia, research and consulting, the company said.
Sumantran oversaw Ashok Leyland’s light commercial vehicle joint-venture with Nissan.
In the past few years, Ashok Leyland has launched a new range of trucks including the Dost SCV, the Stile and, most recently, the Partner LCV. It launched the MiTR LCV bus at the Auto Expo in New Delhi last month.
“Sumantran has played a key role in expanding Ashok Leyland’s product range and new businesses and in creating a strong partnership with Nissan," Dheeraj Hinduja, co-chairman, Hinduja Automotive, said in a statement.
