Satyam scam: judicial remand of Raju, other accused extended
Hyderabad: A local court here today extended the judicial remand of all ten accused in the multi-crore Satyam scam, including the IT firm’s disgraced founder B Ramalinga Raju, till 3 February.
The accused could not be produced before the XIV Additional chief metropolitan magistrate as advocates of the Nampally criminal court boycotted proceedings in support of Telangana bandh and closed the entrance.
They were made to sit in the police van itself for over three hours before taking them back to the Chanchalguda jail.
Later, in view of security of the accused, the magistrate extended their judicial remand till 3 February and also adjourned the framing of charges against them to the same day.
Eight accused, including two former auditors of Price Waterhouse, were brought from the jail while Satyam’s former chairman B Ramalinga Raju is undergoing treatment at NIMS hospital in Hyderabad for hepatitis-C ailment.
Another accused Satyanarayan Raju, who is on anticipatory bail was also present in the court premises.
