Singapore: Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL) is seeking by tender 70,000 tonnes of low-sulphur gas oil for delivery in April, after buying 40,000 tonnes for March, traders said on Wednesday.
BPCL requested 30,000 tonnes for arrival on 2 - 7 April , followed by a further 40,000 tonnes for delivery on 5 - 10 April. Both tenders close on 10 -11 March.
The state-run refiner previously bought by tender a gas oil cargo from Glencore at a premium of $10.25 a barrel. India is buying gas oil regularly to meet rising domestic demand due to its strong economy, industry sources say.
India’s domestic sales of diesel rose to 4.3 million tonnes in January from 3.71 million tonnes a year earlier, while diesel imports more than trebled to 210,000 tonnes in January versus year-ago levels, official data showed.
