Energy | GAIL signs gas deals to supply power plant

New Delhi: Gas distribution firm GAIL India Ltd signed contracts to buy natural gas from Hindustan Oil Exploration Co. Ltd to be supplied to a power plant in Tamil Nadu.
Hindustan Oil will sell 51,000 million British thermal units (mmBtu) of gas a day from its PY-1 offshore field for the first six years, GAIL said in an emailed statement on Tuesday. The duration of the agreement is 15 years.
A separate agreement was signed with PPN Power Generating Co. Ltd, which will buy the gas from GAIL, according to the statement.
