New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) is in talks with global power equipment suppliers to set up a nuclear power equipment manufacturing plant in India. The company is also eyeing stakes in mid-sized companies in the US and Europe which possess niche technologies for the power sector. “We are talking to Areva of France, US-based General Electric and Siemens of Germany, among others. While the objective is to set up a joint venture for manufacturing nuclear power equipment in India, we will also be OK with technology transfer,”A. K. Puri, Bhel CMD, said.
