Mumbai: Auto major, Fiat India, expects to double its sales volume this year at 50,000 units as against the 24,000 units sold last year, a top company official said.
“The number of customers in the hatchback segment is growing in India and we want to tap the opportunity. We expect to double our sales from 24,000 units to 50,000 units by December this year,” Fiat India’s president and chief executive officer, Rajeev Kapoor, told reporters here on Monday.
The car maker had reported a 78.38% jump in its total sales at 2,335 units in February this year.
The company on Monday launched its 1.2-litre Punto Fire Dynamic and Emotion, priced at Rs4.57 lakhs and Rs4.87 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively, taking the battle for the B plus hatchback segment to a new height.
“The hatchback segment has seen a 50% growth last year in India. In fact, 60% of car sales happen in this category and we have had a 5.5% market share till now,” Kapoor said.
“We are now looking at doubling our sales,” Kapoor said.
The Punto Fire comes with a tilt steering, front power windows, fire prevention system and programmed service reminder in its entry level 1.2 Active variant.
