Merck sues Ranbaxy over drug patent

Wilmington:Merck & Co., the third-largest US drug maker, accused Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd in a lawsuit of infringing a patent with its plans to market a generic copy of the antibiotic Primaxin I.M.
Ranbaxy, India’s biggest drug maker, applied to the US Food and Drug Administration to sell its version of the injectable medicine before Merck’s patent expires in 2009, according to a complaint filed on Tuesday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware. Bloomberg
Suzlon wins biggest wind-turbine contract
New Delhi: Suzlon Energy has clinched its single-biggest contract to supply wind turbine capacity to a US wind power developer, the company said on Wednesday. Suzlon Wind Energy Corp., a unit of Denmark-based Suzlon Energy A/S, has signed a contract for 400MW of wind turbine capacity with PPM Energy of Portland, Oregon, a statement said. Suzlon gave no financial details of the deal. AFP
