Mumbai: Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd has started production of its Sunny sedan for the Indian market at its Oragadam factory near Chennai, the company said in a statement.
This is the second completely made-in-India car Nissan is producing at the plant in 15 months. The other model is the Micra hatchback, the production of which started in May last year.
Nissan unveiled the Sunny on 3 August. Expected to go on sale during the festive season that begins next month, the Sunny will have 85% of it parts sourced locally. The sedan will compete with Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki SX4, among others.
