Chennai: Workers at Shasun Pharmaceuticals Ltd’s Puducherry plant, the world’s largest manufacturer of anti-inflammatory and pain drug Ibuprofen, have gone on strike, the company informed the stock exchanges on Monday.
The reason for the protest wasn’t known as both Shasun officials and workers’ representatives were not immediately available for comments.
Shasun said in a statement it was taking steps to resume operations at the plant at the earliest. The Puducherry facility, established in 1986, is one of the six plants of the Chennai-based pharmaceutical company.
Shasun shares closed at Rs.63.90, down by 0.78%, while the benchmark Sensex was up 0.77% at 19,325.87 points.
