New Delhi: Grant Thornton India, the domestic arm of global consulting firm Grant Thornton International, has appointed Amrita Mitra as partner and all-India head for indirect tax.
Mitra, who will be based in Mumbai, carries around 18 years of experience during which time she has assisted a number of Fortune-500 companies on indirect taxes related litigation and advisory work. The companies include Pepsi, Unilever, Nestle, Cadbury , Colgate, Kelloggs, and Philips. She has also managed indirect tax matters for Indian business houses such as the Tatas, Escorts , Kirloskars and JK.
Mitra’s last assignment was as associate director with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
In Grant Thornton, her focus will be to strengthen the indirect tax practice in all seven locations. The practice would include advisory and compliance work, VAT audits, health checks and litigation support.
