Aditya Birla Group to employ 12,000 entry level staff in three years
Mumbai: Aditya Birla Group will employ 12,000 people at the entry level in the next three years, its chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said on Wednesday.
“In the next three years, we would employ about 12,000 people at entry level. This would be graduate engineers, diploma holders, MBAs and ITIs for our manufacturing units,” Birla said at an event. “Jobs get created when you have growth, when it is sustainable and solid,” he said.
At present, the total employee base of the conglomerate stands at 1.1 lakh, he added.
With the group’s entry into service business such as telecom, the percentage of women in the employee base has now gone up to 30%, Birla said. The proportion of women in managerial roles, however, may not be as much.
The number of women is more at two levels below the chief executive of a business and in five-seven years, there will be many women business leaders, he said.
Birla said the group treats its women employees at par with others, in accordance with its belief of letting a person grow on merit and added that women have proved themselves with their hard work.
He said the conglomerate has never taken a decision not to enter any business due to shortage of talent, but is facing difficulties with specialist talent. Birla cited the case of hiring 20 data scientists at the corporate centre where it is facing some difficulties.
However, the group has always been successful in tiding over such difficulties, he added.
