Medimix makers foray into high-end herbal spas
Chennai: Cholayil Private Limited, the makers of Medimix herbal soaps, plans to launch 10 premium Ayurveda, or alternative medicine, treatment and spa outlets under the brand name Sadayush across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru over the next 3 years.
Sadayush’s competitors include Hindustan Unilever Limited’s Ayush and Sanjeevanam, which is part of their sister concern Cholayil Care group.
“We are not overly worried about the competition, the customers are always looking for more in terms of offerings and so there is enough scope to develop in this area," said Nivas Salivan, Cholayil’s vice president of marketing when asked about Sadayush’s likely cannabalization of Sanjeevanam customers. The new service’s rates will be at least 50% higher than current market rates and is likely targeting wealthy customers.
The company has invested ₹ 2 crores for its first outlet in the Central Chennai area of Mylapore and will look to venture capital for future investments. The south-based company is eyeing a revenue target of ₹ 130 crore this year, up from the ₹ 100 crore logged in 2010.
The company’s new products pipeline includes herbal shower gels and moisturizing creams.
