Mumbai: Public sector lender Allahabad Bank on Thursday reported an eight-fold rise in net profit to Rs333.59 crore for the second quarter ended 30 September, 2009.
Total income of the bank rose to Rs2,451.51 crore in the latest quarter of the current fiscal from Rs1,977.19 crore of the corresponding period last year, the bank said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
During the July-September period, the state-run bank’s interest earning also grew to Rs2,046.69 crore from Rs1,845.95 crore of the last financial year.
For the half year ended September, Allahabad Bank posted a net profit of Rs636.45 crore, up nearly five-fold, compared to Rs135.04 crore of the same period last year.
Shares of Allahabad Bank were trading at Rs123.75, down 3.36% in the afternoon trade on BSE.
