HAL to continue as a public utility service
New Delhi: The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will continue as a public utility service for six more months with effect from 24 March, it was announced today.
HAL was earlier declared a public utility under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, for six months from 24 September, 2006, a notification by the Labour Ministry said adding, the extension has been done in public interest.
The employees in this establishment, as a result, would among other things be required to give notice to their employer six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started, an official release said here.
During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees cannot go on strike, it added.
