Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd said on Friday that it had informed the department of telecommunications (DoT), the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) and security agencies that it would start commercial services on Monday

The company, which will commence operations in all 22 telecom service areas, has also filed tariff plans with Trai and said it looked forward to working with other telecom operators to achieve the vision of a digital India.

“We expect the incumbent operators to fulfil their regulatory obligations in letter and spirit. Currently, Jio test users are facing huge interconnect and MNP (Mobile Number Portability) issues," Jio said in a statement.

The incumbents have maintained that once Jio intimates DoT and Trai about the commencement of its services, they will provide adequate inter-connection and MNP to customers of the new entrant, the statement said.

“We expect and hope that following commencement of services by Jio, the incumbent operators would fulfil their obligations to provide adequate interconnection and MNP facility. In the spirit of putting the customer first and complete transparency, Jio would report its operator-wise call failure numbers on its website ‘www.jio.com’, on a regular basis," said Jio.

The company has offered its customers a lifetime of free voice calls to any network across the country and priced data services attractively low.

The statement on Friday said “the data used for the voice calls will also neither be charged nor deducted from the data balance of the subscriber".

Jio users would have access to unlimited LTE (long-term evolution) data and national voice, video and messaging services, including national roaming, along with a full bouquet of Jio applications and content, completely free up to 31 December 2016, the company statement said.
