Uttam Steel, UK firm plan mill in Ghana

Mumbai:Uttam Galva Steels Ltd, an Indian steel maker, said it will build a $60 million (Rs264 crore) plant in Ghana with Britain’s Liberty Commodities Ltd to make metal for the auto and construction industries.
Ghana Iron & Steel Co, a joint venture between the two, will commission a galvanized steel mill with capacity of 75,000 metric tonnes by the end of this year and a cold-rolling mill in 2008, Uttam Galva said in an e-mailed statement. Liberty Commodities is a trading firm, the statement said.
